This book looks at the history of the Rockfield Studios, the world’s most famous (and the first) residential recording studio situated in rural Monmouthshire. Over the years it has played host to a number of legendary names: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, Rush, Queen, Oasis, The Stone Roses, Simple Minds.

The book examines how this studio facility rose from a dilapidated set of farm buildings to become one of the most famous brands in recording history and a byword for musical excellence. The solid stone farmhouse building, turned into studios, gave the place unique acoustics which defined the sound of many classic, multi-million selling records. The book is packed with previously unheard humorous anecdotes from behind the scenes of the making of musical history. The book also tells the tales behind the recording of such modern classics (including Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and Definitely Maybe… by Oasis).
