This comprehensive view of post-war Welsh rural life looks at
social and cultural issues, housing and social change, employment,
incomes and poverty, transport, community and environment.
The book is based on a major research project commissioned by the Welsh Office. The Welsh Office under Redwood and Hague preferred, however, not to publish the findings. The analyses and interpretation of this research have produced a lively, accessible and possibly controversial picture of contemporary life in the Welsh countryside.
