The death of Trefor M. Owen in February 2015 was a great loss to ethnological studies, both in Wales and internationally. A memorial conference is being organised by the Ethnology and Folk Studies Section of the University of Wales Alumni Association at St Fagans National History Museum on Saturday, 21 November 2015. Tecwyn Vaughan Jones and Eurwyn Wiliam will speak on aspects of his life and contribution. Rhys Jones will talk about the influential ‘school’ of geographers and anthropologists at Aberystwyth of which Trefor Owen was a part, while M. Wynn Thomas will discuss Alwyn D. Rees, another notable member of that ‘school’.
